I don't necessarily understand why this is as funny to me as it is, but anytime I think of my new Lazer saddle, I hear Dr. Evil's voice in my head talking about the sharks he wants to guard his lair. That being said, I do finally have a new (to me) saddle! And even better is that my lovely Collegiate found a home where it will be loved and continue it's show life with a talented young lady and her trusty mount <3 A lovely friend let me borrow her saddle for filming my test (another story for another time), and it made such a huge difference for both Blue and myself that I was incredibly excited to get my Lazer in the mail. Not only did it arrive earlier than expected, but it is in incredible shape! A little of Grace's saddle cleaner/conditioner and it's beautiful like black onyx.

When I got the notification it was out for delivery at 8am, all hope of anything meaningful getting done at work was gone. I was too excited to get home, When I arrived at home though, Fed-Ex had still not appeared. That was when I learned that Fed-Ex can deliver at any time as long as it's before 8pm on the day they say it's being delivered. I was starting to get bummed as it was getting dark, but right at 5:00pm the truck pulled up!
Naturally, after cleaning it up some after it's trip from North Carolina, I trotted off to the barn. You know, just to check the fit (will also do a little snippet on this too). *wink wink.

My handsome and extremely tolerant Blue watched me buzz around him like a squirrel on speed and took it all in stride, considering I'd pulled him away from waiting for his dinner and not to mention it was a tad bit chilly and I'd removed his blankets, as he's sporting a pretty reasonable long trace clip.
And then I couldn't contain it, I threw a saddle pad on him and cinched it up and just had to sit in it. And that was when I realized 80% of my tack was still sitting in my trailer at the other end of the property. And I didn't have any stirrups...
So we did what any reasonable person would do:

We put on our hackamore, threw on the floodlights outside the barn and squirreled up the arena railing and onto my patiently waiting Blue who was still not certain what his crazy owner was doing with him out in the cold in the pitch black night with the floodlights.

As we tootled along, I realized how very wrong my Collegiate had been for us, and how very much we indeed needed something new, something that fit not only him, but me as well. Also, I thought I knew comfort, I knew nothing before this saddle. Wholly wow. (We're also getting more comfortable doing things in darkness, either the deep shadowy bit cast from floodlights, or the extreme black from a new moon and cloudy night sky). I patted my good boy's neck and let him nibble some on a haybale and then dismounted, fed and put my tack away and then turned him out for the night so that he could enjoy his dinner. I'm so very excited about this saddle and cannot wait to get riding in it! I think it'll make some pretty significant strides forward in our training. #herestonostirrupDecember #isthatathing #Lazersaddles #BCcatsroyal
